About The Test
Iron Reducing Bacteria (IRB) are naturally present in the environment and feed on iron. They often find their way into wells and groundwater sources when new wells are drilled. The IRB Well Water Test checks your well water for this commonly found bacteria. The IRB Well Water Test may only be ordered as an add-on to our other Xpress Water Testing® kits.

Iron Reducing Bacteria are a common cause of issues such as yellow water or metallic taste. If you have noticed that your water has turned yellow, or if you have a slimy film on the surface of your plumbing, then it may be due to Iron Reducing Bacteria. NOTE: This test takes 10 business days.
